Shugo Chara! Main Characters

( Amu Hinamori )

Amu Hinamori (日奈森 あむ Hinamori Amu?), the series' protagonist, is a student of Seiyo Elementary. Amu's classmates see her as "cool and spicy", but Amu's true character is shy and timid. Part of the reason for this misunderstanding is the trendy punk goth clothing her mother buys for her as well as the way she expresses her shyness. However, when Amu wishes for the courage to become her would-be self, three colorful eggs appear. When they hatch, they reveal Amu's Guardian Characters: Ran, Miki, and Su.

Amu becomes a member of the Guardians, the school's student council, and discovers that each member has a Guardian Character. Amu's position with the Guardians is the Joker. Her task as the Joker is to search for and purify X Eggs and X Characters (also, in the second season, she purifies Mystery Eggs, the corrupted forms of people's would-be selves). Ran, Miki, and Su help Amu with her task through a process called Character Transformation, which is enabled by the Humpty Lock and grants Amu special abilities depending on the Guardian Character. Later on, Amu also creates a fourth egg, known as Diamond. In the second season, when Amu shows her true potential, the Humpty Lock increases in power. Thus, new transformation scenes are used.

Amu's two main love interests are Tadase Hotori and Ikuto Tsukiyomi. Amu's primary rival is Utau Hoshina, an idol singer for Easter who is jealous that Ikuto shows an interest in Amu instead of her.

Amu gains the Dumpty Key from Yoru and uses it to unlock the Humpty Lock. In some of the later chapters, when Amu opens the Humpty Lock with the Dumpty Key, she and Tadase see more of Ikuto's past. Their journey ends when Amu Character Transforms with Diamond, and she and Ikuto fight briefly. Ran, Miki, Su, and Diamond all combine their powers, making Amu Character Transform into Amulet Fortune and Ikuto Character Transforms into Seven Seas Treasure.

In the latest chapters, after defeating Gozen and saving Ikuto, Amu's feelings for Ikuto are shown more clearly. When he reveals he is leaving, Amu begins crying and runs away showing she does indeed feel strongly about him. At the airport, before he leaves, she runs after him, to which Ikuto responds with kissing her on the cheek - very close to the lips - and confessing his love. Amu remains stubborn and does not openly return his feelings. However, Ikuto promises her he'll make her fall for him, as she promises she will find her true self.

Amu ventures to the Eggs' Cradle, a place where unborn and "lost" Shugo Chara reside, in order to search for four coloured shards representing each of her Shugo Chara in an attempt to bring Ran, Miki and Su back. In chapter 44, Diamond tells Amu that Ran, Miki and Su have "disappeared" and that she will help Amu find them as her "navigator". Diamond becomes Amu's guide in the Eggs' Cradle in Amu's search for the four coloured shards. With her help, Amu realizes that she loves Ikuto as she managed to "go through" her heart while she only likes Tadase for his "outer" character. She finally comes to terms with the loss of her Guardian Characters at the end of the journey, however as she returns she realizes that she has Ran, Miki, Suu and Diamond back in Egg form much to her relief and later joy as they born gain later in Shugo Chara Encore. In the anime television series, Amu is voiced by Kanae Itō. She is portrayed by Yuuka Maeda in the musical.

Ran (ラン?)

Ran is the first to hatch from Amu's eggs and represents Amu's desire to be more honest, confident and athletic. Ran is frequently cheering Amu on. During Character Change, Amu gains, thus, and increased her athletic abilities. During Character Transformation, Amu becomes Amulet Heart, with a cheerleader inspired outfit. In chapter 38, Ran undergoes a new Character Transformation, along with Miki, Su, and Diamond; becoming Amulet Fortune. In chapter 44, she disappears along with Miki and Su, and later Diamond as well when Amu no longer needs them. In Shugo Chara Encore at the very end of the last chapter she and Amu's other Shugo Chara emerge hatch again at Sanjou and Nikaidou's wedding mich to Amu's joy. In the anime television series, Ran is voiced by Kana Asumi.

Miki (ミキ?)
The second Guardian Character to hatch is Miki. Miki represents Amu's desire to be more sharp, level headed, and artistic. Miki is also the one to help Amu make fashion choices. Reflecting Amu's love interests, Miki has shown an interest in Tadase's Guardian Character, Kiseki, Ikuto's Guardian Character, Yoru, Kukai's Guardian Character, Daichi, and Nagihiko's Guardian Character, Rhythm. During Character Change, Amu gains increased artistic abilities. During Character Transformation, Amu becomes Amulet Spade. In chapter 38, Miki undergoes a new Character Transformation, along with Ran, Su, and Diamond; becoming Amulet Fortune. In Shugo Chara! Doki, Miki is the only one out of Amu's Guardian Characters to be able to sense Mystery Eggs clearly. In chapter 44, she disappears along with Ran and Su, and later Diamond as well when Amu no longer needs them. In Shugo Chara Encore she returns along with the others and together catch the wedding bourquet for Amu who accidentally threw it back in the air again. In the anime television series, Miki is voiced by Nanae Katō.

Su (スゥ ?)
The third Guardian Character, Su, represents Amu's desire to be more caring, sensitive and improve her domestic skills. However, Su is prone to silly mistakes. She is very fond of Amu's teacher, Yuu Nikaidou. Amu gains an improvement in cooking and sewing skills during Character Change, as well as becoming "too girly". During Character Transformation, Amu becomes Amulet Clover. In chapter 38, Su undergoes a new Character Transformation with Ran, Miki, and Diamond; becoming Amulet Fortune. In chapter 44, she disappears along with Miki and Ran, and later Diamond as well when Amu no longer needs them. She and the others make an unexpected return toward the end of the last chapter of Shugo Chara Encore as they appear to be reborn again from Amu's feelings. In the anime television series, Su is voiced by Aki Toyosaki.

Diamond (ダイヤ Daiya?)
Diamond is Amu's fourth Guardian Character. Diamond represents Amu's desire to shine and be noticed in front of other people. Unlike most Guardian Characters, she is supposedly the most powerful. She becomes an X Egg when Amu dislikes all the changes that were happening in the spring. While collecting X Eggs with Yukari, Utau finds Diamond's egg inside the box. She soon hatches into a X Character. Unusually, she is not shaped like the usual X Character; she looks like a normal Guardian Character, but with a white X-shaped clip covering her black diamond-shaped clip. Because of this, Amu doesn't know Diamond's true name. In the Japanese versions, Diamond's name is shortened to Dia. X-Diamond can Character Transform with Utau, becoming Dark Jewel, however, the transformation does not last very long. When Amu is finally able to prove to Diamond that she does have enough confidence to shine she reverts into her true original form. Together they undergo a Character Transformation, becoming Amulet Diamond. Afterward, Diamond returns to her egg until she sees that Amu "shines again", but secretly comes out as a spirit at times. Diamond is shown to be an air-headed character. In chapter 38, Diamond comes back when Amu "shines". After character transforming and fighting with Ikuto, she, Ran, Miki, and Su combine powers with Amu; becoming Amulet Fortune. In chapter 44, Diamond tells Amu that Ran, Miki and Su have "disappeared" and that she will help Amu find them as her "navigator". Diamond becomes Amu's guide in the Eggs' Cradle in Amu's search for the four colored shards. With her help, Amu realizes that she loves Ikuto as she managed to "go through" her heart while she only likes Tadase for his "outer" character. Coming to terms with herself and the future, Amu accepts the loss of her Guardian Characters and Diamond disappears as well, guaranteeing that the four of them will always be watching over her. In Shugo Chara Encore Diamond and the other three have hatched again and save Amu's catching of the thrown bourquet. In the anime television series, Diamond is voiced by Kanae Itō.

( Ikuto Tsukiyomi )

Ikuto Tsukiyomi (月詠 イクト Tsukiyomi Ikuto?) is a teenage boy in high school contracted by Easter to find the Embryo. He often helps Amu even though he works for Easter. Ikuto actually despises Easter and tries to wrench himself free from them by trying to find the Embryo to grant that wish. He possesses the Dumpty Key which pairs with Amu's Humpty Lock which at first did not fit in the keyhole. Like his father, Ikuto is a skilled violinist. He is the current owner of the Dumpty Key, which originally belonged to Aruto, his father, although Tadase's father had it for a little while. His mother, upon marrying someone else after they found her husband's violin in a foreign country and believing that he would not come back, bound her children into working for Easter. Ikuto's personality is aloof, stoic, and a little naughty. He likes teasing people, especially Amu and Tadase. He is also the older brother of Utau Hoshina. As the series goes on, he grows very strong feelings for Amu — he confessed that he loves her in the same chapter Tadase did, although she believes that he is teasing her. He later surrendered himself to Easter, not wanting to get anyone else involved in the mess he made. In the manga timeline, it is shown he Character Transformed with a new black Guardian Egg to become Death Rebel, shocking Amu. In chapter 37, Tsukasa told Ikuto he resembles his father when he yells. In chapter 38, he Character Transforms with Yoru and the black egg into Seven Seas Treasure. In chapter 39, it's said that Ikuto may have two eggs, one is possibly still inside him. In one of the later chapters, Ikuto calls Amu 'princess' and she replies by asking him to thank her for making him get back to normal. Ikuto swears that this time he will be the one to protect her. In chapter 43, Ikuto confesses to Amu he will never see her again as he is going to search for his father. It is shown later in the chapter that Ikuto confesses his love to Amu at the airport when she comes to see him off, he kisses her close to the lips, and made a bet with her that she will definitely fall for him. In the final chapter of Shugo Chara Encore!!, Ikuto returns for Yukari Sanjo and Yuu Nikaidou's wedding. He promises that he would show Amu sides of him that she has not seen, but only when he returns for her when she is older. Ikuto and Tadase both state that they will not stop trying to win Amu's love. He apparently does not leave Japan after all as a figure who is most likely his father is holding hands with Ikuto's mother as Nikaidou and Sanjou's wedding. In the anime television series, Ikuto is voiced by Yuuichi Nakamura. He is portrayed by KENN in the musical.

Yoru (ヨル?)
Yoru is Ikuto's cat-like Guardian Character and represents Ikuto's desire to be free. Yoru often goes out by himself and enjoys causing trouble for the Guardians and their Guardian Characters for fun. When Ikuto and Yoru undergo a Character Transformation, they become Black Lynx. Yoru is hysterical when Ikuto does the Death Rebel Character Transformation in chapter 31. Lately, he also can't track Ikuto, because the hypnotizing fork confuses him. Later on, when Amu and Tadase find Ikuto being controlled by Easter, Yoru takes the Dumpty Key and gives it to Amu. In chapter 38, he along with the black egg, combine powers with Ikuto to become Seven Seas Treasure. In chapter 46, Amu finds a dazed Yoru in the Eggs' Cradle. He and Amu fall out of the Egg's cradle and see Ikuto. In chapter 48, when Yoru sees how happy Ikuto is, he comments him for having become a "true alley cat", and goes back to being a heart's egg inside of Ikuto. In the anime television series, Yoru is voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro.

( Tadase Hotori )

Tadase Hotori (辺里 唯世 Hotori Tadase?) is a boy in the same year as Amu and serves as King's Chair of the Guardians. Like Amu, he is actually a shy person and is not good at public speaking; instead, he Character Changes with his Guardian Character, Kiseki. Although he is popular with the girls, when a girl confesses their love to Tadase, he will have Kiseki reject her. However, whenever he hears the word "ouji" ("prince"), or anything resembling the word "ouji", he Character Changes into an egotistical king who seeks world domination. Amu develops a crush on Tadase soon after she transfers into the school. His love interest is Amulet Heart, Amu's Character Transformation with Ran, but it later becomes Amu herself. In episode 39, Kiseki's egg turns into an X Egg because Tadase lost his self esteem by not being able to find the Embryo. With the help of Amulet Heart, Tadase turns back to normal. Tadase has known Ikuto and Utau since childhood, but he does not talk about it in detail until the Guardians are about to face Utau in their final battle. Amu and Tadase reconcile soon after, though. Later on, he agrees to help Amu save Ikuto from Easter. Tadase confesses his love for Amu in chapter 28 (episode 74 in the anime) while Ikuto was hiding in Amu's closet. Ikuto over heard and made fun of Tadase, only to protect him, which he knew nothing about. When Tadase was facing against Ikuto in chapter 35, his staff becomes a sword called Royal Sword in episode 99. Tadase ventures into the Eggs' Cradle with Amu, but subsequently gets separated from Amu due to a meteor shower. The future Tadase, who looks like Tsukasa helps Amu and reveals himself to be Tadase. In the anime television series, Tadase is voiced by Reiko Takagi. He is portrayed by Hidemi Hikita in the musical.

Kiseki (キセキ?)
Kiseki is Tadase's Guardian Character. Kiseki was born for a combination of Tadase's desire to be stronger and the dream of world domination. Because of this, Kiseki is extremely egotistical and often demanding, and doesn't like obeying others. He frequently calls other Guardian Characters to go on "Special Secret Meetings." A running gag is that the other Guardian Characters will almost always ignore him when he starts up a meeting. Kiseki is aware of Tadase's crush on Amu and acts the same way as Amu's Guardian Characters whenever Tadase seems to be confessing to Amu. Kiseki holds a grudge against Ikuto's Guardian Character, Yoru. During Character Change, Tadase gains the confidence to overcome his shyness. However, sometimes Tadase will become an egotistical person who seeks world domination. Although Tadase could not Character Transform with Kiseki at first, they later gain this ability with the help of Amu after Kiseki's egg gets tainted with an X, becoming Platinum Royale. In the anime television series, Kiseki is voiced by Kaya Miyake.

Will upload the pictures later ^^

Shugo Chara!

The heroine of the story, Amu Hinamori, is a student at Seiyo Elementary.[3] At first glance, her classmates refer to her as "cool and spicy" and rumors speculate about her personal life. However, her real personality is that of a very shy girl who has trouble showing her true personality. One night, Amu wishes for the courage to show her "would-be" self, and the next morning finds three brightly colored eggs—red, blue, and green—in her bed. At first, she is alarmed, but realizes she must have really wished to change. These eggs hatch into three Guardian Characters: Ran, Miki, and Su. The Guardian Characters aid Amu in discovering who she truly is and help fulfill Amu's dreams. Amu's life becomes much more complex as she struggles to deal with her "would-be" selves and the Seiyo Elementary's Guardians, who recruit Amu as the Joker to search for X Eggs and X Characters, the corrupted forms of people's dreams.

Meanwhile, the Easter Company is extracting people's eggs in search of a special egg called the Embryo. The Embryo is believed to grant any wish to the one who possesses it. However, the process creates X Eggs and X Characters. It is described as an all white egg while normal heart's eggs have a yellow heart and yellow wings on it.

Later on in the series a fourth (yellow) egg is born, this egg contains the Guardian Character Diamond. She was only seen a few times in the series, until about halfway to the end, where she was purified of the X on her, and then would appear in times of heavy crisis.

Main Characters of Kirarin Revolution

Kirari Tsukishima (月島きらり Tsukishima Kirari?)
Voiced by: Koharu Kusumi, Drama CD voice by: Miyu Matsuki
Kirari is a cute and gluttonous 14-year-old girl who strives to be an idol. In the beginning she only wanted to be an idol so she can get closer to Seiji, but comes to like show business. She is clumsy, dense, overly trusting of others, and lacks common sense. Despite her shortcomings and lack of talents, she manages to persevere because of the help she receives from her friends and her unwavering resilience. She has a unique characteristic of turning all artistic designs into mushroom shapes.[5] Over the course of the show she not only becomes an idol, but also performs a series of odd jobs to promote her company (or in some cases to accidents). She falls in love with Hiroto. Because Hiroto always helps her. She is surprised when Seiji confesses his feelings. But she knows, Seiji is just pretending. Seiji just wants to know if Kirari really loves Hiroto.
Nā-san (なーさん Na-san?)
Voiced by: Chigusa Ikeda, Drama CD voice by: Kumiko Higa
Kirari's cat. He is an outstanding cat that can sew, cook, and do other chores. Na-san has received recognition for his intelligence and singing abilities. He even knows how to repairvending machines. As a mascot character to the heroine, he provides a lot of help to Kirari and protects her from danger (such as when Hiroto gets too close to Kirari, Na-san hits/covers Hiroto's face). At the same time, it is also shown that he is a genius cat which excels in both English and mathematics. His favorite food is taiyaki.
Hiroto Kazama (風真 宙人 Kazama Hiroto?)
Voiced by: Akio Suyama (episodes 1-102), Takuya Ide (episodes 103-153) Drama CD voice by: Masaki Mimoto
A member of SHIPS. In contrast to Seiji, he is brutally honest and sometimes acerbic with Kirari, but he is usually the one who ends up helping her in sticky situations. He later falls in love with Kirari. But always hides his feelings. And always supports Kirari with Seiji. When he learns about Seiji confessing his his feelings to Kirari, he acts weird and goes, leaving Kirari with Seiji. The next day, Kirari told Hiroto that she refused Seiji feelings, and she's in love with someone (of course thats Hiroto), and wants to tell him her feelings one day to him. That makes Hiroto really confused about Kirari's statement. Since he is the oldest of 5 brothers he is excellent at doing chores.
Seiji Hiwatari (日渡 星司 Hiwatari Seiji?)
Voiced by: Souichiro Hoshi (episodes 1-102), Shikou Kanai (episodes 103-153) Drama CD voice by: Wataru Hatano
A member of SHIPS, as well as Kirari's love interest. He is very rich. His parents disagree with him being an idol. Throughout the beginning of the series, he seems oblivious to Kirari's feelings, but by episode 12 he begins to portray feelings of jealousy over Hiroto's and Kirari's friendly relationship. He knows that Kirari and Hiroto love each other and that his feelings towards Kirari are not as deep as Hiroto's feelings towards her. He is gentle and says very encouraging words to Kirari. Since he is as dense as her, he always has a calm and clueless expression. When he is wandering around in the city, he disguises himself as an otaku. In manga vol.13, he confess his feelings to Kirari. Though he is just pretending, since he wants to make Hiroto jealous, so Hiroto and Kirari realize their true feelings towards eachother. Seiji realized that they really love each other, and right now just wants to help both get together. He also loves his tortoise, Kame-san.

Kirarin Revolution

Kirarin Revolution OP 1.jpg
Kirari Tsukishima, a gluttonous 14-year-old beauty, does not care about idols and the entertainment world because her mind is occupied by food. Her obsession with food only causes her to be clueless about love. One day, after saving a turtle that is stranded in a tree, Kirari meets a handsome and gentle boy named Seiji, who gives her a ticket to a SHIPS (a popular idol group) concert to show his gratitude for her saving his pet. However, when Kirari shows up at the concert, another boy only tears up her ticket, warning her to stay away from Seiji because she and Seiji live in different worlds. The outraged Kirari sneaks into the concert, only to discover that Seiji and the boy who tore her ticket, Hiroto, are actually members of SHIPS. Finally understanding the meaning of "different worlds", Kirari refuses to give up pursuing Seiji and declares that she will also become an idol. However, being an idol requires tons of training and talent. Faced with rivals and scandals, Kirari is determined to come out as a top idol.

Junior Detective League

The Junior Detective League, known as Detective Boys (少年探偵団 Shōnen Tantei-dan?) in Japan, are a group consisting of Conan Edogawa, Amy Yeager, Mitch Tennison, George Kaminski, and Anita Hailey. Professor Agasa often looks over the kids and assist them when a case needs to be solved. As a symbol of the group, each member has a badge used as a walkie talkie and a tracer.

Amy Yeager

Amy Yeager, known as Ayumi Yoshida (吉田歩美 Yoshida Ayumi?) in Japan, is Conan's friend and classmate. Amy was the sole female member of the Junior Detective League until they got Anita Hailey to join. She has a crush on Conan, which makes him uncomfortable, though Amy thinks that he loves Anita because he tries to protect her and she often sees them talk amongst themselves in private. She is a naive and innocent little girl who shows courage from time to time and acts as the team's cheerful spirit. Amy later becomes better friends with Ai, and in the Japanese version, Ai allows Amy to use the more informal term Ai-"chan" to address her.[11] In the English Manga, her name is translated to Amy Yoshida. Her seiyū is Yukiko Iwai and her English voice actress is Monica Rial.

Mitch Tennison

Mitch, known as Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya (円谷光彦 Tsuburaya Mitsuhiko?) in Japan, is a friend of Amy and George who enjoys reading science books and takes a scientific approach to problem solving. He seems to be infatuated with both Amy and Anita Hailey. He is a smart and well-read first-grader who believes that technology can solve most problems. It was shown that his parents are both teachers, and he has an older sister, Asami Tsuburaya (円谷 朝美 Tsuburaya Asami?), two years his senior.[12] In the English Manga, his name is translated to Mitch Tsuburaya. His seiyū is Ikue Ohtani and his English voice actor is Cynthia Cranz. He was temporarily voiced by Orikasa Ai in the 10th movie.

George Kaminski

George, also known as Genta Kojima (小嶋元太 Kojima Genta?) in Japan, is the overweight, self-proclaimed leader of the Junior Detective League. He loves food and can eat more than all the other Junior Detective League members combined. His favorite food is eel rice. Even though he can be intimidating, he is actually very kind. He is a friend of Amy and Mitch, and has been shown to admire his father, who owns a liquor store. Both he and Mitch have a crush on Amy, and they both envy Conan since she likes him. In the English Manga, his name is translated to George Kojima. His seiyū is Wataru Takagi and his English voice actor was Dameon Clarke and currently Mike McFarland.

Shiho Miyano

Shiho Miyano (宮野志保 Miyano Shiho?) was a former member of the Black Organization under the code name "Sherry" (シェリー Sherry?). A gifted chemist at a young age, she was the inventor of APTX 4869, the poison that shrank Jimmy. Shiho betrays the organization after Gin killed her sister, Akemi Miyano. Shiho took the drug in a suicide attempt, but rather than dying, she, like Jimmy, became small. She is taken in by Dr. Agasa and becomes Conan Edogawa's right hand under her alias Anita Hailey, known in Japan as Haibara Ai (灰原哀 Ai Haibara?). She shows affection towards Jimmy, but she denies having said feelings. Despite being constantly in the company of the Junior Detective League and Ran, she was very reserved and only opened up a little more to Amy and Rachel after sometime. In Episode 330, she allowed only Ayumi to call her "Ai-chan". She often helps Conan solve cases and find information on the Black Organization to help bring them down in addition to working on the cure to their condition. Her seiyū is Megumi Hayashibara and her English voice actor is Brina Palencia. In the live drama, her teenage form was portrayed by Yuu Kashii and her child form was by Shibota Kyota.

Shiho Miyano (宮野志保 Miyano Shiho?)

Shiho Miyano (宮野志保 Miyano Shiho?) is a fictional character in the detective manga and anime Case Closed. Shiho is an ally, of the main protagonist Jimmy Kudo, and an ex-member and fugitive from the malevolent "Black Organization" which she betrayed. Although mentally an adult, her body has reverted back to childhood form due to an experimental poison, APTX 4869, which she developed for the Black Organization and subsequently used on herself in a failed suicide attempt. She often helps Jimmy Kudo with cases while she tries to develop an antidote for the poison she created.

Shiho Miyano grew up within the villainous secret crime syndicate, the "Black Organization," along with her sister, Akemi. She is the daughter of an English mother and a Japanese father,[1] also scientists and members of the Black Organization, both of whom are dead. A prodigy, she was sent to the United States for education at a young age, then returned to Japan as a chemist to continue an unfinished secret project that her parents had been working on for the Black Organization. Her code name within the organization is "Sherry".

Shiho was about 18 years old when she developed the experimental test compound APTX 4869. She discovered that it could be used as a poison to kill without leaving any traces of itself in a body. In the manga, while researching its effects, Shiho noticed that a rare few of her lab mice had become younger after being given the drug instead of dying. Meanwhile, the Black Organization had begun using APTX 4869 to commit untraceable murders. Unaware of the drug's rare side effect, the Black Organization orders a search for Jimmy Kudo because his body had not been found. Shiho searched Jimmy's house twice after he had been shrunk to confirm his death for the Black Organization. She began to suspect Jimmy's transformation after she searched his house for the second time and noticed that his childhood clothes were missing. Shiho then confirmed him as deceased so the organization would not look into the matter further and kill him.

Her dissatisfaction over the Black Organization's usage of the APTX 4869-- for killing purposes, in addition to her open questioning over the murder of her sister Akemi Miyano resulted in her imprisonment and scheduled execution by the Black Organization. With no other way out, she decided to secretly commit suicide by taking a pill of APTX 4869.

However, it made her body's physical age regress to that of about her seven or eight-year-old self, the same fluke that happened to Jimmy Kudo. With her new small body, she escapes from the Black Organization and collapses in front of Jimmy's house, hoping he may be able to help her.[2] She was then found and adopted by Hiroshi Agasa.

To prevent the knowledge of her transfiguration from being discovered, she and Hiroshi Agasa created her alias Anita Hailey, known as Ai Haibara (灰原哀 Haibara Ai?) in Japan.[3] The translated Viz manga had her alias as Anita Hailey from Anna Katherine Green, the first American mystery writer, and Hailey was suggested by Agasa as it means "hero". Though she took the name, she disagreed with the reasoning. She then attends Teitan Elementary along with Conan, and helps him solve cases and find clues about the Black Organization.

Shiho has a jaded, mistrustful, sarcastic, and cold attitude and often reminds others about the darker side of reality and human nature. Anita also acts older than she is supposed to be in school, which the detective boys refer to as "cool". But despite her cold acts, Shiho is actually a kind and caring girl.

In the fourth movie in the series, she says to Jimmy/Conan that she wished that she would forget her memories about the Black Organization, the death of her sister and the pill, claiming all she wants was to be a normal little girl and live together with Conan instead. But then as Conan was shocked by the words, Ai immediately said that she was lying, keeping in line with the sarcastic part of her personality. This could also be interpreted as a sign of insecurity: at times, she says things that may or may not be her actual beliefs. If they're taken badly, she may simply choose to cover them up by saying she's joking. For example, at one point, she tells Conan that her age is "18, perfect for you, right?". Conan is surprised - "Just kidding." If interpreted that way, she may or may not have some affection beyond friendship for Conan/Jimmy; however, whichever the case, she certainly respects him. Ai also seems to have some interest in fashion, as she has made repeated requests for a certain type of purse when asked to do something.

She is fearful of Black Organization members Vermouth, Gin and worries they will find her one day and kill her along with anyone who knows about her. When a Black Organization member is nearby, she can feel their malicious stares. As Ai Haibara, she is very indifferent to the ideals pitched in by the Junior Detective League. Often she acts as a babysitter for them, explaining complicated matters to them or keeping them out of trouble. Still, she regards them all as the first real friends she has ever had.

She has an interesting relationship with Rachel, where it initially appears that she is avoiding her. She frequently ignores Rachel's comments toward her, even going so far as to pretend to be asleep when she enters a room (though it is very transparent to everyone that it's an act). Conan is mystified as to what would make Ai act this way, and no clear motive is actually presented. However, strong clues have shown that Ai is reminded of her sister when sees Rachel, perhaps because of their similar appearances and personalities. While she maintains her distance from Rachel, she is motivated to speak to her in one case where Rachel leaving Professor Agasa's residence could endanger her life, asking her not to go (though avoiding saying why). Rachel appears to think Ai does not like her for some unknown reason, but she respects Ai's need for distance. She maintains a friendly demeanor toward her, and treats her like the other children.

Shiho was introduced as Anita Hailey, a new student in Conan's classroom. Later, she reveals herself to Conan and reveals the facts about the Black Organization. She then attends the series as a regular cast and joins Conan in his investigation. She has had three run ins with the Black Organization. As the series progress, Anita had developed a temporary antidote to APTX 4869 and continues to tweak it until it becomes complete.
